Biography of the author: Charlotte Brontë

Charlotte was born in Thornton, Yorkshire, in 1816 and she was the third of six children. Because of the death of her mother, Charlotte was sent with three of her sisters,Emily, Maria, and Elizabeth, to the Clergy Daughters' in Lancashire (which is described in Jane Eyre as the Lowood School). The school was famous for its poor conditions, and for that reason, her two elder sisters, Maria and Elizabeth, died of tuberculosis. It is also reflected in the book, when her friend dies.
Charlotte continued her education at Roe Head. During this period, she wrote her novella The Green Dwart under the name of Wellesley. In 1842 she and Emily travelled to Brussels and taught english there. She finally returned to Haworth and later used her time at the boarding school as the inspiration for some of The Professor and Villette.
In 1846, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne published a joint collection of poetry under the assumed names of Currer (Charlotte) , Ellis (Emily) and Acton (Anne) Bell.
Branwell, Charlotte's brother, Anne and Emily died. Charlotte and her father were now left alone together. In 1854, Charlotte married Arthur Bell Nicholls and became pregnant soon thereafter. Her health declined rapidly during this time, and she died, along with her unborn child, in 1855.

Jane Eyre: Part 6

Jane arrived to Thornfield, but what she found was a burnt house.
She saw a shepherd and asked him what was happened. He answered that the Rochester’s wife went mad and decided to set fire on the house. After that, she committed suicide.
In that moment, he lived in other place. The shepherd gave her the new address and she went to see him.
Jane arrived to the new house. Her heart stopped beating when she saw Rochester in the main door. But he didn’t realize Jane was ten metres far from him.
Unfortunately, he had gone blind when he tried to save his wife. Rochester went inside his house and Jane did the same after him. In the moment of the reunion, Rochester thanked God for bringing her to him. But he was so worried because maybe Jane stopped loving him after knowing he was blind, but Jane clamed him down; Jane would love him until she died.
The next day, Rochester asked her for marrying him again, and she accepted, of course.
“"You speak of friends, Jane?" he asked.
"Yes, of friends," I answered rather hesitatingly: for I knew I meant more than friends, but could not tell what other word to employ. He helped me.
"Ah! Jane. But I want a wife."
"Do you, sir?"
"Yes: is it news to you?"
"Of course: you said nothing about it before."
"Is it unwelcome news?"
"That depends on circumstances, sir--on your choice."
"Which you shall make for me, Jane. I will abide by your decision."
"Choose then, sir--HER WHO LOVES YOU BEST."
"I will at least choose--HER I LOVE BEST. Jane, will you marry me?"
"Yes, sir."
"A poor blind man, whom you will have to lead about by the hand?"
"Yes, sir."
"A crippled man, twenty years older than you, whom you will have to wait on?"
"Yes, sir."
"Truly, Jane?"
"Most truly, sir."
"Oh! my darling! God bless you and reward you!" ”
Finally, they marry and had some children.

Jane Eyre: Part 5

Jane started to get better and work in a small school that John Rivers had founded.
She had never told anything about her past and why she had appeared in front of the Rivers’ house. But she was surprised when John said to her that he knew who she was and why she had left Thornfield. Surprisingly they were cousins! They had an uncle in South America who had died and wanted to give his inheritance to Jane. She was very happy for the news; not for being rich but for having discovered that she had family.
Time passed and the Rivers’s family and Jane were so happy being together. Jane didn’t know why John was obsessed with teaching her languages. The answer arrived some weeks after: he wanted her to go with him to India, but he wanted to go with her as his husband.
But Jane wasn’t able to marry him because she still loved Edward Rochester and he didn’t love her and she felt the necessity of going back to Mr. Rochester and went back to Thornfield Hall.

Jane Eyre: Part 4

One month after the proposal the marriage took place.
They were in the church when, suddenly, a man came in and said that they couldn’t get married because Mr. Rochester had already a wife. He had to admit it; actually, he showed her to Jane. During all the time Jane was in Thornfield, Rochester’s wife was living very close to her but nobody had said anything to her. Rochester’s wife’s name was Bertha Mason. He was cheated by Bertha’s family to marry her. She was mad and she was the author of all the things that had happened strangely, like the fire in Rochester’s bedroom.
Jane couldn’t believe what was happening. Without thinking twice, she decided to leave Thornfield. She took a coach and went as far as the money she had saved afforded. She had to leave it in the middle of the country and she had to sleep on the moor for several days.
She arrived to a village and she fainted near a house. The housekeeper of it saw her and took Jane inside the house.
After some days, Jane woke up. She was at the Rivers family’s house. They were two woman, Diana and Mary Rivers, and a man, John Rivers, who was a clergyman.

Jane Eyre: Part 3

Little by little, Jane got used to the idea of leaving Thornfield and Mr. Rochester. One day, while she was walking around the gardens, Rochester appeared and walked with her. He told her that he had found a new place to work for her after he married. It was in Ireland. Jane was astonished:  Ireland was too far from Thornfield and, specially, too far from Edward.
Suddenly, Jane started to cry and she got furious:
"I grieve to leave Thornfield: I love Thornfield:- I love it, because I have lived in it a full and delightful life,--momentarily at least. I have not been trampled on. I have not been petrified. I have not been buried with inferior minds, and excluded from every glimpse of communion with what is bright and energetic and high. I have talked, face to face, with what I reverence, with what I delight in,--with an original, a vigorous, an expanded mind. I have known you, Mr. Rochester; and it strikes me with terror and anguish to feel I absolutely must be torn from you for ever. I see the necessity of departure; and it is like looking on the necessity of death."
"Do you think I can stay to become nothing to you? Do you think I am an automaton?--a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!--I have as much soul as you,--and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh;--it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal,--as we are!"
She couldn’t put up the fact that the wife-to-be of him was Ms.Ingram. But the idea that Rochester had wasn’t marrying Blanche. But when Rochester  informed her that he wasn’t going to marry Ms. Ingram, she look at him confused. Rochester approached to Jane and he asked for her hand in marriage.
At first, Jane thought that Rochester was pulling her leg, she didn’t believe him. But Rochester was talking so seriously, and soon Jane started to believed what he was saying. Jane accepted the proposal without any doubt.
